The honest agreement.
Before you scan your face into Lumen, here's exactly what you're agreeing to — in plain language.
1. What Lumen is — and isn't
Lumen offers AI-assisted skin assessments reviewed by licensed dermatologists. It is a wellness and educational tool. It is not a medical device, does not diagnose disease, and is not a substitute for in-person medical care. If you suspect a serious skin condition, please consult a clinician directly.
2. The photos you upload
You confirm that the face photos you submit are of yourself (or a person you have explicit permission and legal authority to submit on behalf of, such as a minor in your care). You agree not to upload images of anyone else without their consent.
3. How we use your images
We use your scans to generate your skin report, share them with the reviewing dermatologist, and track your progress over time. We do not sell your photos, and we do not use them to train third-party AI models. Internal model improvements only ever use de-identified, aggregated data — and only if you opt in separately.
4. Storage, security, and deletion
Your photos are stored encrypted in our backend. You can request deletion of your photos and associated report at any time from your account. Some anonymized analytics may be retained for service-quality purposes.
5. Dermatologist review
A licensed dermatologist may review your scan, questionnaire, and AI observations to personalize your plan. This review is for education and routine guidance — it does not establish a doctor-patient relationship and is not a clinical diagnosis.
6. Your responsibilities
Be honest in your questionnaire, follow product directions and patch-test new ingredients, and stop using any recommendation that causes irritation. Lumen is for users aged 13 and older; users under 18 should have a parent or guardian review this agreement.
